What is the difference between Offering and Seeking? Offering: Items/Services that you own and are willing to part with in a swap transaction. Seeking: The items/services that you would like to receive in exchange for the items you are Offering.
SwapThing is primarily a swapping site. However, sometimes you may need to add cash to a swap to even out an exchange where the swappers feel the value is uneven. In other cases, you may want an item or service offered by another swapper and not have any of the items they are seeking in return. In this case, SwapThing allows the option to purchase the item instead of swapping, if both parties agree. Therefore, we have set up three exchange types that are set by the owner of the item or provider of the service at the time of listing. Swap Only: Owner is only interested in swapping the item/service for another item/service. Cash Only: Owner is only interested in selling the item/service. Swap/Cash: Owner is interested in swapping or selling the item/service. There are two additional options that a swapper can set when listing an item: Make Me An Offer: Swappers use this option to indicate that they are open to negotiation on price. When using the “Make Me An Offer” option swappers do not set the price, but let other swappers state what they are willing to pay when proposing a swap. Instant Purchase: Some items and services on SwapThing are available for cash only. The Instant Purchase option can be used to bypass the swap negotiation and list the item/service for a set price.
