The Bay Area Maker Faire: The two-day event for creative people who celebrate arts, crafts,
engineering, science projects, and the do-it-yourself way of thinking. SwapThing and the
Maker Faire form a good partnership because making, crafting and swapping go great together,
and it benefits the health of the environment.
|
Visit SwapThing at the Maker Faire and share your ideas for using swapping
as a means of preserving the environment and/or finding those needed
supplies for all the wonderful crafts and creations. We'll give you a free
swap and a compact fluorescent light bulb so you can do your part to help
Mother Earth at home. While you are visiting with us, register for a free
SwapThing account and enter our raffle for a gift basket.

Swap for what you need. Make what you want.
|
A cornerstone of SwapThing are the SwapCircles, which are groups of individuals who identify
with a particular activity, locality or other commonality. They provide a new way to swap for
the goods and services you want amongst trusted swappers with similar interests. You can
communicate with them and check out what they are offering and/or seeking in a swap
transaction. You can have swapped items shipped, you can meet locally to make an exchange, or
you can meet each other at the Maker Faire to complete your swaps!
Join the Maker Faire SwapCircle and swap with other creative people you know and trust.

Get the things you need and help save the earth.
|
While the idea SwapThing was formed after a cash-strapped woman with a sick cat and excellent knowledge of Quicken struck a deal with an accounting-challenged veterinarian, the site has since developed into a viable platform for recycling, reusing, repurposing and recreating.
To use an old saying, "one man's trash is another man's treasure." So, why throw away those unwanted items, when you could swap with someone who sees value in it? SwapThing has a treasure trove of things you can use in your unique creations.
