The
ShareThing
Nonprofit
Program
is
designed
to
make
it
easier
for
nonprofit
organizations
to
raise
awareness
and
gain
support
in
their
local
community.
With
the
SwapThing
system,
your
organization
simply
creates
a
'wish
list'
of
items
and
services
needed.
Donations
requests
might
include
clothing,
volunteer
hours,
help
with
painting,
etc.;
there
are
no
limits
on
posting
what
you
need.
Approved
nonprofit
members
are
given
a
special
user
ID
that
allows
unlimited
transactions,
at
no
cost
to
donor
or
recipient.
At
SwapThing,
we
believe
that
it
should
never
cost
money
to
give
to
others
in
the
community.
In
that
spirit,
enrollment
in
the
ShareThing
Nonprofit
Program
is
always
free
to
qualified
participants.
In
a
nonprofit
transaction,
the
donor's
item
and
cash
donations
are
simply
exchanged
for
a
printable
copy
of
the
completed
transaction,
to
be
used
as
a
tax-deductible
receipt.
Volunteer
hours
and
service
donations
are
not
eligible
for
tax-deductible
status
under
current
tax
laws.
Nonprofit
Organizations
- Complete
the
application
for
the
ShareThing
Nonprofit
Program
and
submit
to
SwapThing.
- Once
the
application
has
been
approved,
you
can
list
the
items,
services
or
cash
the
organization
is
seeking
on
your
My
SwapThing
page.
Simply
select
the
desired
category
from
the
Seeking
drop-down
list
and
complete
the
required
fields
on
the
Item
Details
page
that
appears.
- When
a
SwapThing
user
donates
an
item
and/or
cash
to
a
member
of
the
ShareThing
Nonprofit
Program,
they
receive
a
tax-deductible
receipt
in
return.
- Members
of
the
ShareThing
Nonprofit
Program
are
encouraged
to
rate
the
user
making
the
donation
after
the
transaction
has
been
completed.
For
example,
your
organization
has
the
opportunity
to
rate
the
user
after
a
donated
item
has
been
received
and
verified
to
be
in
the
condition
as
promised.
Likewise,
when
a
service
is
donated,
rate
the
user
after
the
service
has
been
provided,
or
after
the
initial
meeting
if
it
is
a
long-term
commitment.
When
cash
is
donated,
rate
the
user
after
the
receiving
the
PayPal
confirmation.
SwapThing
Users
(Donors)
- When
donating
an
item
to
a
member
of
the
ShareThing
Nonprofit
Program,
the
donor
will
receive
a
tax-deductible
receipt
after
the
organization
has
received
the
item
and
verified
its
condition.
Any
shipping
costs
will
be
added
to
the
total
of
the
receipt.
-
When
donating
cash
to
a
member
of
the
ShareThing
Nonprofit
Program,
the
donor
will
make
the
payment
through
PayPal.
The
transaction
will
be
labeled
as
a
donation
in
the
SwapThing
Swap
Summary,
which
will
serve
as
a
tax-deductible
receipt.
- Volunteer
hours
and
service
donations
are
desperately
wanted
and
greatly
appreciated,
but
are
not
eligible
for
tax-deductible
status
under
current
tax
laws.
