| A SwapCircle is a
group of individuals who identify with a
particular activity, locality or other
commonality. They provide a new way to swap goods
and services amongst trusted swappers with similar
interests. You can create a SwapCircle of
like-minded swappers, forming a community within
which you can communicate and conduct swap
transactions. If you are already part of a
community, you can add swap functionality by
creating a SwapCircle and integrating it with your
existing community.
The types of existing communities using
SwapCircles include parenting groups, collecting
clubs, business networks and sports teams.
SwapCircles are customizable to show your
group’s logo and mission, as well as
displaying the items listed by SwapCircle members
and providing a private forum.
Membership in the group is by invitation only;
a single “owner” of the SwapCircle
approves or rejects new members. Owners have the
option of making their SwapCircles either private
or public. SwapCircles designated as private will
require an invitation from the owner to join and
can only be viewed by members, whereas public
SwapCircles are visible to everyone.
Once a member, it is possible to identify other
members while searching for items to trade.
Furthermore, search results are sorted by things
within your SwapCircle and the entire SwapThing
community. Owners can choose to allow members to
add other members or to recommend new members for
approval.
For example: a member of the Atlanta. Baseball
Card SwapCircle needs a rare baseball card. He
makes a general search on Swapthing looking for
the card and receives 10 results. Three of the
cards belong to members of the Atlanta Baseball
Card SwapCircle. These results are identified
through a tab for members of his SwapCircle,
another tab shows results within the rest of the
SwapThing community.
Large organizations have the option of forming
sub-SwapCircles to narrow the topic of focus
and/or break up the number of members amongst
them. If you are interested in having
sub-SwapCircle functionality, please contact us at
partners
prior to creating your main SwapCircle.
